Rich Waffles

This called for cake flour, but I just used regular flour. I did separate the wet and dry ingredients though, and the egg whites!
The batter has a cup of heavy cream, 3 eggs, butter, flour, baking powder, and a little bit of sugar and salt. When I added the egg whites, the batter all separated into these weird lumpy shapes.I have no idea why (but I bet Jonie knows!)
But I persisted in mixing and eventually it got smooth again. The waffles were a wonderful color.
Can you spot the difference between these next two photos?

We ate them with whipped cream, nutella, and strawberries. They certainly were rich, and very dense. Flavor-wise though, I felt they were lacking. A bit more sugar would have been nice.
